A Giant Is Gone
Milton Friedman has passed away. Undoubtedly the most successful and influential proponent of libertarian thought in the 20th century, Milton Friedman, died last night at age 94. His successes as both a technical economist and libertarian polemicist are enormous. We can thank him, in large part, for happy events from the elimination of the draft to the conquest of inflation. Just a quick note now--his impact was staggering, and there could never be enough words said in praise of him. Somehow, this failed to make the top stories of any major news outlet I checked. Go in peace, sir. The world is a much better place because you were here.

Addendum
I forgot one item on my list of guns & stuff to buy if (now when) the Evil Party (TM) takes control of Congress. M1 Carbine, and a paratrooper stock. Now, my firearms accumulation habit has been almost exclusively C&R of late, and I'd love to get an actual USGI carbine with an genuine paratrooper stock, but that's getting extremely pricey. Auto Ordnance makes reproductions of the carbine (sans bayonet lug), and repro paratrooper stocks are also available, so that's the route I'd probably go. The real tragedy of the whole things is I'm much happier buying old bolt action rifles, like the 1918 Remington M1917 I've got my eye on, but this'll obliterate my budget for those. The only reason I buy rifles that look naughty is because They don't want me to have them.

Dilemna
It's currently Buy Ammo Week, with actual Buy Ammo Day coming next weekend. I'm currently short on 7.62x39 (about 150 rounds on hand) and .223 (1 mag on hand).
I want to supportthe cause as much as possible, and could easily order some of both online. But, being here in the Great Wet North, shipping on ammo is pretty pricey, since most of the web vendors are on the other side of the Rockies at best. And, there's a gunshow in about 3 weeks, where there are a couple of well stocked ammo vendors.
Do I buy online and pay the extra $$ to support the cause, or buy 100 rounds of Winchester White Box at Wally World next Sunday and get the rest of what I need at the funshow next month?
