One Minute!
Tremendous smackdown by Rep. Patrick McHenry (10th Dist, NC) (video)
Mr. McHenry: "After months of campaigning against stay the course, the democrats are proposing just that. A stay the course resolution here on the house floor. Their Iraq resolution does not have the force of law and in fact this nonbinding resolution is simply a mealy-mouthed attempt to appease their democrat leftist base. Democrats have held 52 hearings on Iraq since taking control of congress. Let me get this right. The democrats have held 52 hearings so they can show one resolution on the house floor that has no bearing on the president's policy, does not have the force of law, does not advocate the withdrawal of troops, and does nothing except have a tantrum here on the house floor. So please explain this new direction, madam speaker. This is not a new direction. It's political posturing of the worst kind. Madam speaker, where's your plan? Where's your plan for victory in Iraq? Where's your plan for success and national security? I yield back." Indeed, the Defeatocrats have no plan. In their hearts, they want to pull out immediately, it's obvious. But they know that the voters would punish them, severely, especially if (most likely when) Iraq descended into chaos. And they like being the majority. So now, having flogged President Bush during the election for something other than "stay the course," they find themselves advocating that exact course.
And even better, just as the House takes up debate on opposing the Surge, it's revealed that Mookie has run away to hide in Iran. So now they're opposing a operational change that's actually having a positive effect.

Sixty-Nine, Dude!
Not that he would get the reference, but today is the 69th Natal Day of my father.
So for all you you who were going to call the fire department about the pillar of smoke coming from that large fire out in California, it's just the candles on his cake.
Happy Birthday, Dad!
