Just a Thought
Appropos of Tam's post on the ever predictable wailing and gnashing of teeth about "high capacity" magazines in the wake of the Tuscon nutjob shooting, this thought crossed my mind:
-the shooter was finally subdued after he had successfully loaded a second thirty-one round magazine into his pistol - not while he was reloading, as has been implied by many press reports. But that magazine - an third party aftermarket one - failed to feed properly.
Ever stop to think that, had the nutjob been limited to standard or reduced capacity magazines, the odds are probably better that they would have functioned properly, allowing him to keep shooting?

SCAR Multi-Caliber Lower
This looks pretty darn cool. I assume that the upper is the ATF-recognized serial numbered 'gun' for the SCAR.
Actually, when this is what I first envisioned when they announced the SCAR and claimed that it would be 'multi-caliber' - a single rifle that could change calibers by swapping out barrel, bolt, and magwell.
Might actually get me to buy a SCAR.
