Tarot Cards
You are The Hierophant
Divine Wisdom. Manifestation. Explanation. Teaching.
All things relating to education, patience, help from superiors. The Hierophant is often considered to be a Guardian Angel.
The Hierophant's purpose is to bring the spiritual down to Earth. Where the High Priestess between her two pillars deals with realms beyond this Earth, the Hierophant (or High Priest) deals with worldly problems. He is well suited to do this because he strives to create harmony and peace in the midst of a crisis. The Hierophant's only problem is that he can be stubborn and hidebound. At his best, he is wise and soothing, at his worst, he is an unbending traditionalist.

Tidying Up
Went out to the garage the other night and consolidated and reorganized my ammo stockpile in preparation for moving.
Final result: 8 .50 cal ammo cans, 4 .30 cal cans, and two wood crates of ammo, plus two loaded AK mags running around loose.
Yes, I realize some folks, like Chris, probably fire as much ammo in a month or two as I've got stored. And I'm quite envious that they have the time and disposable income to do so.
Most plentiful ammo type: 7.62x54R-one crate (880 rounds) of Polish light ball, plus a .50 can of assorted non-surplus types, followed by 8mm Mauser-600+ rounds of Ecuadoran surplus plus 160 rounds of FMC. Distant 3rd was .30-06, with two .50 cans, one of Danish, mostly on Garand clips, and another of half-n-half Yugo and Frankford Arsenal.

F*ck Helen Thomas
Riehl World View (via Instapundit) posts on Helen Thomas, the senile doyenne of the White House press corps launching into another "the way things should be according to Helen" screed masquerading as a question at a White House press conference.
I'd pay money to see Tony Snow give a response something like this:
"Helen, in case you haven't noticed, this is a press conference. That means that reporters ask actual questions, and I answer them. It's not the UN, and you're not the US ambassador.
If you want to ask a question, ask a question. If you want to introduce a policy proposal, write a column or call your Congressman. Heck, write a letter to the President, he could use a laugh.
But press conferences are not the place for you, as a reporter, to introduce policy proposals. It wastes your time, it wastes my time, and it wastes the time of everyone else in this room. Next time you do that, I'm going to call your doctor and tell him that I think you need to be evaluated for senile dementia and Alzheimer's.
Next question."

Movement Orders
Of the PCS variety, not the deployment variety. But that will come.
In approximately 5 weeks, the Audi will be trailered up behind the Dakota and the Mrs and I will point the nose eastward (Junior and #2 will be ensconced with my parents temporarily) headed for Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
For some reason, the Army likes to station me on the coasts-I've been stationed at Benning, Jackson, and Lewis twice. (And Germany, but that's OCONUS)
My ultimate destination will be Division HQ for the 82d Airplane Gang, after some en route schooling. 11 years in the Army, and I'm going to be a paratrooper. Even if I'm a staff puke planner disgruntled major paratrooper.
Now, sing with me (to the tune of Battle Hymn of the Republic)
There was blood upon the risers, There were guts upon his 'chute, His intestines were a danglin' from his paratrooper suit. We picked him up and poured him from his paratrooper boots, And he ain't gonna jump no more.
Gory, gory, what a helluva way to die! Gory, gory, what a helluva way to die! Gory, gory, what a helluva way to die! And he ain't gonna jump no more!

History Repeats
"We ought not to fight them at all unless we determine to fight them forever. This thought, I fear, is too rugged for our People to bear...Congress was so weak and indecisive that it would not be capable of doing anything at all."
-John Adams to Thomas Jefferson, on dealing the the Barbary pirates.
Sounds a lot like today, doesn't it? (HT: Trainer)
