Another Reason WA State Dems Suck
It seems that they are so anti-military that they won't even allow a floor vote on a joint memorial (HJM 4040) (which is basically just a statement, not any kind of law) expressing gratitude to the U.S. military and Iraqi government for their sacrifices in brining democracy to Iraq.
Probably because that would mean admitting that our armed forces are brining democracy to Iraq, which is a good thing, when it can't be a good thing, because it was done by the Bush administration, which by their definition cannot do any good things.
This is the sad state of today's Democrat party.

Apparently the Mexican Army Didn't Learn It's Lesson...
That lesson being Don't Mess with Texas.
Via Diggers Realm:
Hudspeth County Sheriff's Deputies and their families have been receiving threats over the armed standoff along the Mexico border last week.
Where is the outrage? The Sheriff says that he has no doubt at all that the Mexican military is behind the threats and that things are at their boiling point.
The fact that our law enforcement officials can be threatened by a foreign government and nothing is being done about it just shows that our Federal officials are unqualified to do their jobs and need to be replaced immediately!
Michael Chertoff and his cronies need to be kicked out of their positions and replaced with someone who is going to take our homeland defense seriously.
KVIA
During a ride-along Thursday with the Hudspeth County Sheriff's Department, one deputy, who has been with the department since the 1960's, told ABC-7 that this is the most tense matters have ever been along this area of the border.
In the past few days, Hudspeth County Sheriff's Department deputies and their families have received threats to stay off the Rio Grande. Sheriff Arvin West told ABC-7 Thursday morning, before departing for Houston that the Mexican military is behind all of this.
Sheriff West said, "There is no doubt in my mind -- from the first time going back to a couple of years ago and every time in between --- it's the Mexican military. In a nutshell, everybody's been trying to tell everybody that they were here...they've been here ...[and] they come here quite often, regularly."
Now Sheriff West is having to deal with threats being made against his deputies and their families. One Sheriff's Deputy, who refused to appear on camera out of fear, described the situation today in Hudspeth County as "very dangerous." and now, he said, "it's getting personal."
Even if President Bush seems more interested in kissing Vicente Fox's ass than in kicking it, the Texas National Guard contains an entire division, the 36th Infantry, which, to the best of my recollection, is a heavy mechanized division. Plus they've got plenty of fighter aircraft. Which, as far as I can tell, means tha Gov. Perry has more than enough firepower to kick the Mexican Army clear into Guatemala.
The only problem is that invading Mexico would probably be considered engaging in foreign policy without Congress' permission.

Cross Purposes
Reasons why us Washingtonians are constantly hacked off at the Legislature, via Sound Politics:
After the state employees union got their bitches in the Democrat run Legislature to approve a contract mandating that all state employees join the socialist collective union or get fired, Dems in the Legislature are once again bending state workers over for the benefit of their Big Labor masters. Witness SB 6644: "Deducting union dues for state employees." Looking out for the 'little guys,' my ass. This is an shakedown racket that would do the Five Families proud.
Meanwhile, on behalf of state workers who don't want to join the union, Initiative 926 has been filed, which would prohibit public employees from being forced to pay union dues.
Note to the Legislature: if you'd stop trying to avoid the obvious and expressed intent of the people, and further more stop being crack whores to special interest groups, the people would stop passing initiatives to smack you upside the head with a Cluebat.
