The DiFi/Schumer/Pelosi/McCarthy Contingency Fund
Via Ravenwood, I found this column by Mike Adams, "Preparing for Pelosi." The column lists the guns Adams is saving up for in the event that the Dems take the House and Senate. (Adams also makes a potentially good point in that, even if the Dems take the House and Senate, they'll have to wait until after 2008 to do anything much in the area of gun control. Given that Bush has stated that he'd sign the AWB if it got to him, and his habit of caving on some issues-NCLB, Medi-Care drugs, campaign finance-if he think's it'll take an issue away from the Dems, I'm far less optimistic.)
Now, Adams isn't as hard-core a gun nut as many, including Ravenwood. Ravenwood's expansion on Adams' list is much more aggressive, and much more in the style of my own.
Now, a Socialist Democrat takeover of DC is one situation where the Mrs. has authorized me to burn savings, so I have my own list. (Actually, I probably already made a list, back before the 2004 election, in case of a Kerry presidency. But I'm too lazy to dig through the archives.) So, without further ado, my latest list:
-the top item of the GFW's hyperventilation list is anything .50 BMG, which puts one of those at the top of my To Buy List. I'm thinking either a Serbu BFG-50 or a Barrett 99. I'd love a Barrett 82A1, but that's a few thousand extra.
-evil black rifles-"assault weapons"-are next on the list, which of course means I have to get some more of those. I've still got an AR lower on order from Oly (8 months and counting...), so one of these in 6.5 Grendel would be next on my list. If they haven't managed to start selling them in 6.5G, I'll go for the most evil 6.5G upper I can find.
Follow that with a couple of AK klones, just because they get the GFWs sputtering, along with some parts kits and receiver flats, just in case. The ATF would definitely get more froggy with a Democrat administration.
-finally, while not technically and evil black rifle, I'm quite sure Kalishnikov semi-auto shotguns are quite high on the hit list as well, so I'd pick up one or two Tromix conversions of Saiga-12s from Fuzzy Bunny Movie Guns. Or maybe a His & Hers -12 and -20 set. Just to be cute.
Now, I already have a civvy legal M-14 clone that would already qualify as an "assault weapon," (bayonet lug, flash suppressor), but if they got crazy enough, I'd get a SAGE EBR kit from Fulton Armory. Heck, maybe I'd get a whole new rifle with the kit.
And, of course, plenty of standard capacity mags for everything I have.
