-my unit made the front page of the post newspaper. I wasn't quoted, but a bunch of my NCOs were.
-and today I get to go to the (Evil Loophole) Gunshow (ELGS).
Good times all 'round.

Now Field Grade
I , having been appointed a Major in the U.S. Army, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me God.

I Don't Get It
One of the advantages of cable TV is supposed to be that advertising can be more easily tailored for the area it is transmitted to.
So if I live in Washington's 9th Congressional District, why do I get bombarded with ads for the 8th District race? The race is interesting from an academic perspective, and will probably see the heavist ad saturation of any race in the state, given that it's the closest House race in the state.
But I can't vote in the 8th District race-isn't sending the ad to my area a waste of time, money, and bandwidth? I mean, for Pete's sake, I'd rather see another ad for headache medicine you apply to your forehead than another ad for an election race I can't vote in.
UPDATE: OK, someone explain to me why I'm seeing a commercial for a ballot measure in OREGON when I live in Washington? And it's not like I'm just across the river, either-I'm just over 100 miles from Portland.
