100k
Not visitors to my blog (soon, probably mid-November), but 100,000 miles on my 1998 Audi A4. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the car. But I will say that for 100,000 it has been stone reliable, the only flaws being a worn out mounting bracket on the auxiliary cooling fan, worn bushings on the exhaust pipe mounting (within the last 1,000 miles), and an annoying tendency over the last 25,000 miles to eat brake lights.
Since it's purchase in May, 1998, the car has traveled to:
-the landing beaches of Normandy, France, via Paris and Bayeaux for Memorial Day, 1998. -Munich, Germany -Interlaken, Switzerland -Strasbourg, France -Bastogne, Belgium -Fasching in Koeln, Germany (Cologne to you Frenchified folks) -a cross country Z-pattern, from Ft Benning, GA to Ft Lewis, WA, via Albany, NY and San Francisco, CA, in December, 2000. Quattro kicks ass. -many, many trips to Mt St Helens, WA -to Reno, NV, on Independence Day weekend, 2003, to get married -last December, when my wife was 36+ weeks pregnant, and I was on the other side of the Cascades in Yakima, it got me over Snoqualmie Pass in the slush and snow.
These days, with a wife an two kids, it's mostly a commute vehicle, reminiscing, I'm sure, about its days of ripping down the Autobahn at 130 mph. With a wife an two kids, family road travel duties have been taken over by my wife's Dakota. But before the Audi gets too small for the family, I'll have to get a baby sitter and head out for one more long trip (with a radar detector) and open it up one last time.

Questions for Senator Cantwell
One of Senator Cantwell's favorite campaing tactics appears to be bashing certain "big businesses"-so far, oil companies and pharmacutical companies-for 'gouging' American consumers. Nevermind that doing so is illegal, and no investigation-of which there have been several-has ever found any evidence of price gouging. It sounds good, and scores points with the kind of people who didn't do so well in high school economics class-i.e., the Democrat base.
But before she misrepresented Washington in the Senate, Senator Cantvotewell used to be corporate counsel for RealNetworks. Which means she should have more than a passing familiarity with corporate law. Which is why I'd love to see her answer these questions:
"Senator Cantwell, to the best of your understanding of the law, are corporations required by law to maximize profits for their shareholders?"
"Are oil companies or pharmacutical companies exempt from these laws?"
"Then why do you consistently bash them for complying with the law?"
